X-Hunters

The X-Hunters, known as Counter Hunters (カウンターハンター?) in Japan, is a group of three Mavericks from Mega Man X2 that recovered Zero's parts to revive him as a Maverick. After the defeat of two bosses in the stage select screen, they appear randomly in one of the six remaining stages, and X has to defeat them to recover Zero's parts. After the defeat of the eight bosses, they reappear in the final stages.

- Wire Sponge's stage: Small path under the first elevator.
- Morph Moth's stage: Small path near the ladder after the first sub-boss.
- Flame Stag's stage: Make the second Beetron break the highest breakable wall.
- Magna Centipede's stage: In the room with falling blocks, run to the door in the bottom right before it's blocked.
- Overdrive Ostrich's stage: Use Spin Wheel in the first wall.
- Bubble Crab's stage: Above the area the Sea Canthller stop.
- Wheel Gator's stage: Use the last elevator until the end to find a door.
- Crystal Snail's stage: Use the Ride Armor to break the wall.
