Volt Kurageil (ボルト・クラゲール Boruto Kuragēru) is a giant aquatic boss from Mega Man X3. It appears as the boss of Doppler Stage 2, but only if Vile MK-II was already destroyed by one of his weaknesses in his stage beforehand. Its only purpose is to stop intruders from infiltrating Dr. Doppler's Laboratory.

Strategy[]

Volt Kurageil attacks differently depending on the player's position. If they are in the water, it attacks with its claws and homing missiles. If the player climbs a wall to escape the water, it fires clusters of light bullets from its head. Its weaknesses are Frost Shield and Triad Thunder.

Damage: 4
MMX3 VoltKurageil ClawAttack Claw Attack (爪攻撃 Tsume Kōgeki)[1]
Volt Kurageil throws one of its tentacle claws at the player.
Damage: 6
MMX3 VoltKurageil LightShot Light Shot (光弾 Hikari-dan)[1]
Volt Kurageil fires a trio of light bullets at the player. This attack is only used if the player climbs out of the water.
Damage: 8

Etymology[]

  • "Kurageil" derived from kurage, the Japanese word for jellyfish, the animal that Volt Kurageil is modeled after. Despite having "Volt" in its name, Volt Kurageil does not use any electric attacks, though it is weak to Triad Thunder.

Trivia[]

  • Volt Kurageil's weakness to Triad Thunder may be explained by the fact that jellyfish are made almost entirely of water.
  • Leganchor the Gelroid from Mega Man ZX bears a resemblance to Volt Kurageil.
