"Take this, loser!"
—Uranus, Mega Man & Bass database

Uranus (ウラノス Uranosu) is one of the second four Stardroids that Mega Man must fight in Mega Man V. He has a bull-like appearance and is the Stardroid with the greatest physical strength. Despite his bulky physique, he is very athletic. Uranus uses his brute physical strength to attack with Deep Digger, which involves lifting boulders up from the ground to throw them at enemies. His bull-like appearance, which causes him to be mocked and ridiculed by others, also translates very well to his short-tempered personality, since he likes to run fast and to overturn tables whenever he's mad, and he dislikes both bullfighters and red flags. His weakness is the Break Dash.

Uranus is part of the second wave of four Stardroids, and defeating him rewards Mega Man with his Deep Digger weapon.

Attack pattern[]

The arena takes place in-between two rows of Deep Digger blocks. Uranus has a specific pattern of attacks and movements he goes through. He first starts off by using Deep Digger to pick up a block from the floor and throw it forward. This block splits into 4 pieces of debris that fly away diagonally from the point of impact, but as long as Mega Man jumps or slide forward to dodge the main block, he will easily avoid the spread. Uranus then jumps in place to shake the ground. During a ground shake, Mega Man cannot slide or jump as easily due to him getting bumped up constantly. It also be noted that with each earthquake caused, the floor immediately patches itself up. Uranus then does a long jump forward to the other side, which can be dodged by sliding under him. Uranus then jumps in place twice, which causes four blocks on the other side to collapse and close off half of the screen for a few seconds. This will instantly kill Mega Man if he gets caught underneath them, but it can easily be avoided by staying close to Uranus. Uranus does one more jump to remove the collapsed ceiling, and then repeats his actions from there.

Weaknesses[]

Uranus is weak to Break Dash, which can defeat him in 4 hits. The dash is best used when Uranus jumps to the other side, and each dash gives Mega Man invincibility frames to get to a safe area. He can also use uncharged buster shots if he does not wish to dash. Unlike other bosses, Uranus has tough armor that reduces the damage of a charged Mega Arm to the same damage as an uncharged buster shot (1 damage), so it's better to simply attack with regular buster shots.

While Uranus takes no damage from his own weapon, Deep Digger, it can actually be used to defeat him instantly, but because every jump of his restores the floor, it is very risky and tricky to use. To pull it off, Mega Man should start lifting up blocks when Uranus does his Deep Digger attack (because that's the longest he goes without restoring the floor). Every time Mega Man lifts up a block, he should pause and unpause, which will get rid of the block much quicker than if he had to throw it. 5 blocks will have to be get rid of, 4 for the blocks underneath Uranus, and 1 for Mega Man to have safe ground. As Mega Man will be inside Uranus with this strategy, he should be using E-Tanks to keep his health up (do not worry about wasting them, there will be 2 free E-Tanks after all the rematches). If the whole strategy is done correctly, Uranus will fall into the pit as he jumps straight up, resulting in an instant KO.

StardroidsGigamix

The Stardroids in Rockman Gigamix, with Uranus present at the top right.

In the manga Mega Man Gigamix, the Stardroids are powerful space robots that are attacking Earth, destroying several robots in the process. Uranus defeated Flame Man and Stone Man. Uranus, Mercury and Saturn fight against Mega Man, Cut Man and Elec Man.[1] Uranus is later defeated by the Robot Masters from Mega Man 4.[2]

Uranus has a cameo appearance in the Rockman & Forte manga.

Mega Man (Archie Comics)[]

The Uranus of the Archie Comics Mega Man series was created by Ra Moon, and along with the other Stardroids was supposed to receive Earth after it had been "cultivated" by the evil computer. However, Ra Moon's demise meant that the Stardroids and Sunstar were left to take the planet themselves.

Trivia[]

R&FMS7Uranus

Uranus' cameo in the Rockman & Forte manga.

  • Uranus is named after the planet Uranus, which is named after the Greek deity of the sky, ironic considering this Stardroid is Earth-based. His bull-like appearance also appears unrelated to the Greek deity after which he is named, but could instead reference the Minotaur, a monster of Greek mythology.
    • The Egyptian theme of his stage, combined with his bull-like appearance and earth element, may be in reference to Ptah, the Egyptian creator god and god of architects, who was symbolized by a bull and known as the "ruler of the sky," possibly explaining the name.
  • Uranus's dislikes in his Mega Man & Bass CD data are a reference to elements in traditional bullfights.
  • Uranus and Terra are the only Stardroids that can be affected by the Deep Digger. The others are immune to it.
