A Sub Chip (サブチップ Sabu Chippu?) is a data chip in the Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Star Force series that is used outside of battle. Sub Chips can be found in Blue Mystery Data and bought from Sub Chip dealers. Sub Chips were introduced in Mega Man Battle Network 2 and have appeared in every game following. The Mega Man Star Force series contain Sub-Cards (サブカード?) with the same function of Sub Chips.
Sub Memories are upgrades that allow for the user to hold more Sub Chips, with a max of 8 of each kind once all upgrades have been obtained.

- The "Energy" Sub Chips are to account for the absence of recovering between battles that occurred in Mega Man Battle Network
- Sneak Run appears as a Navi Customizer program in later games as well as a Sub Chip.
- Using Sneak Run and Lock Enemy together after encountering ghost NetNavis will make it very likely that it will reappear and will make collecting their Battle Chips easier.
- The "Untrap" subchip will remain in effect until Megaman is jacked out.
