Class (クラス) is a classification for Battle Chips and Battle Cards in the Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Star Force series introduced in Mega Man Battle Network 3. It determines the amount of Battle Chips or Battle Cards that the player can add in the Folder.
Classes are also used for Program Advances in Rockman EXE Battle Chip Stadium.
Classes[]
Standard[]
Standard (スタンダード) is the most common and accessible class, being obtained from viruses, shops, Mystery Data, and other ways. They are represented by the color gray or yellow. There is no limit of how many of them can be included in the Folder, excluding the limit for identical chips.
Examples: Cannon, Air Shot, Sword, Shock Wave, ...
Mega[]
Mega (メガ) is a class that is stronger and rarer than Stardard. Most of them are obtained from bosses, but some are also available in the same ways as Standard chips and cards. They are represented by the color blue. Only one copy of any Mega Chip or Card can be used within the folder, and the player normally can hold a maximum of 5 Mega Chips or Cards, unless Navi Customizer Programs, Team Style, e-Reader cards, or Ability Waves are used to increase this limit.
In the Mega Man Battle Network series, most Navi Chips, and other high-powered chips prior to Mega Man Battle Network 6, are classed as Mega Chips (メガチップ Mega Chippu), also known as Megaclass Chips[1] (メガクラスチップ Megakurasu Chippu). Starting with Mega Man Battle Network 4, if a user of one version of a game receives a Navi chip of a NetNavi that does not appear in their version, the chip instead appears as a Secret Chip in the user's library, but this does not change their class.
Examples: Super Vulcan, Guardian, Muramasa, Justice One, Z Saber, GutsMan, ...
Giga[]
Giga Chips and Giga Cards
Giga (ギガ) is a class that is stronger and rarer than Mega. Most Giga class chips are unique, lacking extra copies in the games they appear. They are represented by the color red. A folder can only have one Giga chip.
Examples: Delta Ray, Bass, Cross Divide, ...
Tera[]
Tera (テラ) is a class used for some of the Program Advances in Rockman EXE Battle Chip Stadium.
Other media[]
MegaMan NT Warrior anime series[]
While classes are not acknowledged as such in the anime, Megaclass Chips are referred to several times in Rockman EXE Beast+. Navi Chips of Colonel, two versions of KillerMan, two versions of SlashMan, DustMan, ChargeMan, TenguMan, and BlastMan are seen on the Battle Station. The Beast Form chips are referred to as Megaclass Chips.
MegaMan NT Warrior (manga)[]
In the special chapter "Final Battle!! MegaMan vs. ProtoMan", NetNavis watching the battle between MegaMan and ProtoMan measured their strength with a similar classification.
