Summary[]

Like the game, the story has rivals Rockman and Forte joining forces to fight against King, a robot that wants to create a human-free nation.

Prologue: Forte's Day Off[]

Forte's Day Off (フォルテの休日 Forte no kyūjitsu) begins with Forte taking a break in a ruined bowling building thinking what he should do today, and he senses a strange signal trying to control him and Gospel. Angry, he goes after the source to show what happens to who try to give orders to him. Rockman and Roll are in the opening of a robot museum, when suddenly the robots in exhibition (including some from Rockman 6 and Rockman World 5) began moving, being controlled by a hand-like robot. Rockman and Forte fight against the robot and destroy him, stopping the other robots, but Forte claims he did it all alone. Forte thinks if he should fight against Rockman, but as it's his day off, he ignores him and leaves.

Stage 1: King Declares Human Domination![]

In King Declares Human Domination! (キング人類支配宣言!! Kingu jinrui shihai sengen!!), Dr. Wily's new fortress is almost complete and he is preparing his comeback, but King sends his army of robots to attack the base and they soon surround Wily and his remaining robots, a Metall and two Sniper Joes. Rockman appears and rescues Dr. Wily, taking him and the Metall (the two Joes being destroyed by Mash) to Dr. Right's laboratory. Forte awakes and sees the fortress in ruins, and takes down two robots from King's army that were in the area.

Stage 2: King is Strong! Blues is Cut In Half?![]

King is Strong! Blues is Cut In Half?! (キング強し!! ブルース真っ二つに!? Kingu tsuyoshi!! Burūsu mapputatsu ni!?) has Dr. Right and Dr. Wily joining forces to stop King and his army, which are causing havoc. The robot museum is attacked again, and Rockman goes inside to stop King's army, but when he arrives, all robots had already been taken. He finds Blues battling against King, wiht King cutting Blues in half. Shortly after, Forte appears and King summons the Green Devil to take care of them while he escapes, Forte goes after King while Rockman defeats the Green Devil and takes Blues to Dr. Right to be repaired.

Stage 3: Supernatural Phenomenon?! Snow In Summer![]

In Supernatural Phenomenon?! Snow In Summer! (超常現象!? 夏に雪が!! Chōjō genshō!? Natsu ni yuki ga!!), the weather of the city changes and several snowmen fall from the sky, but they soon begin to cause mischief and combine into a large snowman robot. After defeating the robot, Rockman discovers that the one responsible for the weather change is Cold Man, and fights against him. After Rockman defeats Cold Man, Dr. Wily modifies Cold Man into a refrigerator, which surprises Rightot.

Stage 4: Forte On a Rampage?! The City is Destroyed?![]

In Forte On a Rampage?! The City is Destroyed?! (フォルテ大暴れ!? 街大破壊!? Forute ōabare!? Machi dai hakai!?), the city is falling apart, and Rockman goes underground to discover the cause, fighting against a giant centipede robot. After defeating it, Forte appears underground with another centipede robot broken, saying he is searching for King, as Wily made Forte believe King sent a message to him saying he is stronger than Forte. Ground Man attacks them and the two team up to defeat him. Forte then claims he is the one responsible for destroying the city, giving the middle finger to everyone.

Stage 5: O Ye Who Spit Upon the Heavens[]

Astrommanga

In O Ye Who Spit Upon the Sky (天につばする者よ Ten ni tsubasuru mono yo), Rockman and Rush go on a patrol in the skies, and the Metall he had rescued before goes with them. The Metall disappears and Rockman finds a strange cloud with a proverb written on it, and is attacked by the cloud, discovering Astro Man is behind it. Rockman is able to harm Astro Man with Spread Drill and talks with him, saying he doesn't need to fight, and Astro Man admits he is only doing it because King forced him. Astro Man is suddenly attacked by another robot.

Stage 6: Those Recognized By the Sky[]

Fortemegtengum

Forte and Rockman against Tengu Man.

Those Recognized By the Sky (宇宙に認められた者 Sora ni mitomerareta mono) is the first chapter from volume 2. The robot that attacked Astro Man was Tengu Man, and after they talk, Astro Man leaves the area nervously. Without Astro Man's illusions, it's revealed that Rockman and the Metall are in a large flying platform. Rockman fights against Tengu Man, and during the battle the Metall rolls out of the platform, Rockman putting himself in great danger to save the Metall by hanging in the border to catch him. Tengu Man starts attacking Rockman while he struggles to not fall, but Forte appears with the Gospel Boost and challenges Tengu Man. Rockman returns to the platform and calls for Rush, but there is still no sign of him. To defeat Tengu Man, Forte lures him flying high into the sky until they reach space, making Tengu Man's wind attacks useless in the vacuum, and Forte severely damages him. When Forte was ready to finish Tengu Man, the Gospel Boost's energy is almost over and Forte descends to the ground, yelling with Gospel. Rockman is then able to defeat the injured Tengu Man with the Metall's help, and falls from the collapsing platform, but they are saved by Astro Man. Rush finds Rockman and the Metall and takes them back to Dr. Right's laboratory for repairs.

Rockman and Forte then fly to King's fortress, Forte speeding up to reach the fortress first, invading the building and fighting against the several robots. After arriving, Rockman fights against Burner Man and defeats him.

After defeating the three robots, King shows up and faces Forte. As King carries with him a very resistant shield, Forte is unable to damage him even with a powerful charge shot. When Rockman arrives, he finds King holding Forte's left arm, showing he was defeated by him.

There's Still Hope (希望は残された Kibō wa nokosareta) is the last chapter. Rockman battles against King, but he is also unable to harm him because of his shield. During the battle, Rockman is happy to see that Forte is still alive, but Forte is angry as he doesn't has enough energy left to continue fighting. To defeat King, Rockman uses all his energy to fire a powerful charge shot, and is able to destroy King's shield, but shuts down afterwards. When King was going to give the finishing strike, Blues appears and protects Rockman while Dr. Right, Roll, and Rightot arrive and recharge him with energy cylinders. Recovered, Rockman is then able to defeat King, and Dr. Right talks with the injured King. Blues gives an energy cylinder to Forte, and he recovers, then shouts at Rockman, calling him an idiot as he leaves.

Specially Included Rockman Short Stories[]

R&FMangaForte

Specially Included Rockman Short Stories (特別収録ロックマン短編スペシャル Tokubetsu shūroku Rokkuman tanpen supesharu) is the last part from volume two, containing three small side-stories originally published in special issues of Comic BomBom between 1995-1996.[2]

  • Rockman Burning Shot (ロックマンバーニングショット Rokkuman Bāningu Shotto) - Dr. Wily captured Roll and Rockman goes to his fortress to rescue her. Forte defeats Ballade and goes after Rockman, and the two battle.

Trivia[]

  • As mentioned in the afterword to the second volume, the story was cut short at the end of the manga, and in contrast to its predecessor, the serialized portion of the story was not enough to fill the pages of the tankōbon, so three short stories, "Rockman Burning Shot," "Thank You Rockman," and "Curse You Rockman," were included in the second volume.
  • The "Stage 5" title and the phrase read by Rockman are derived from the idiomatic expression "to spit into the sky" or "to reap what you sow" (天に向かって唾を吐く Ten ni mukatte tsuba o haku).
  • Astro Man is misnamed "Planet Man" (プラネットマン) in the introduction of volume 2.
