Mister X is basically a fake name of Dr. Wily, which he used to mask his true identity in Mega Man 6. Mr. X is a billionaire that sponsored the 1st Annual Robot Tournament that he created to take control of eight of the strongest Robot Masters in the final event of the tournament and conquer the world.

He fights with a machine called X Crusher that swings in the screen and shoots a blue ball that splits in two when touches the floor, each part sliding a different direction. When the machine is destroyed, he flies out from it and reveals that he is really Dr. Wily before escaping to his fortress.

• Just before unmasking himself, Mr. X cries out: "My plan for world domination has faild". This typo was fixed in the Mega Man: Anniversary Collection

• Mr. X is a rather interesting nod to Mega Man X, as Dr. Wily plays an important role in the X series.

• It is debated exactly what Mr. X's true origin is. Some fans believe Mr. X is nothing more than a pseudonym of Dr. Wily from the start, a name he has been using for years. Others believe Mr. X is the same as Dr. Cossack, in that he is a real person who was kidnapped so Dr. Wily could use his resources for his own evil means. However, if this is the case it is never explored exactly what happened to Mr. X, if he was rescued after the events of Mega Man 6 or if he met his demise so Dr. Wily could take his place.
