Mechazaurus (メカザウルス Mekazaurusu) is a giant Brachiosaurus-like robot from Mega Man 6, and is the boss of Wily Stage 1. Dr. Wily based this robot on an enemy from a video game he played as a child.

Mega Man 6[]

Attack pattern[]

The floor has two elevations: a higher ground on the left and a lower ground on the right. Mechazaurus remains stationary on the right side at all times. The boss's weak point is its eyes, but any attacks must be perfectly lined up with the eyes or else it will ding off Mechazaurus's head. Mechazaurus's chest has a red hatch that releases platforms. These green platforms have spikes on the bottom, but they can be stood on from the top. They fly upwards once released and continue moving until they crash into a wall. Mechazaurus primarily attacks by shooting fireballs from its mouth: these fireballs travel in a straight line but can be fired in several different directions, not necessarily aiming at Mega Man but usually trying to catch him off-guard. Platforms are released in sets of two and four, with breaks in-between. Same goes for the fireballs Mechazaurus shoots, though they are in sets of four and two, always having a different set number than the platforms.

Weaknesses[]

Mechazaurus is weak to Yamato Spear, which can defeat it in 7 hits. However, given the weapon slightly moves up and down each time it is fired, it may be unreliable. The boss is also weak to Power Adaptor, which does 4 damage with a fully-charged punch but is very risky to hit the eyes with. However, Power Adaptor does not need to punch the eyes, and can instead punch the platforms right back at Mechazaurus. Although each punched platform only does 1 damage at a time, standing in front of the boss door (not to the point of hugging the corner) is actually a blind spot where the fireballs are not aimed, allowing Power Mega Man to simply stand in place and punch platforms for an easy victory. As with all bosses, Mechazaurus takes 3 damage from a fully-charged buster shot.

Other media[]

Mechazaurus appears in the Rockman 6 manga and has a cameo appearance in Mega Man Megamix.

In the drama CD Rockman Kiki Ippatsu, Dr. Wily uses a Super Mechazaurus against Mega Man.
