"Clear my way, you propeller scum!"
—Jupiter, Mega Man & Bass database

Jupiter (ジュピター Jupitā) is one of the second four Stardroids that Mega Man must fight in Mega Man V. He is equipped with a jetpack that he uses to fly at very fast speeds and likes to combine his swift flight with dynamic acrobatics, but his not-so-serious personality makes him somewhat an annoyance to his allies and he also tends to lose valuable things quite often. In ancient times, he was equipped with megaton grade bombs, but as they were too dangerous for him indoors, it was modified to channel energy for his new main weapon, the Electric Shock, a huge beam of raw electricity. He dislikes turbulence while flying fast and his weakness is the Bubble Bomb.

Mega Man V[]

Jupiter is part of the second wave of four Stardroids, and defeating him rewards Mega Man with his Electric Shock.

Attack pattern[]

Jupiter has a short attack order and never deviates from it, but his strategy is very simple and easy to avoid. He spends nearly the entire fight flying very close to the ceiling, out of range. He tries to hover above Mega Man for a second or two, before stopping fire a powerful Electric Shock downwards. He holds his powerful beam of electricity for two seconds, and he cooldowns for a second before shooting 4 mini sparks down. These sparks spread out in diagonal directions downwards but don't cover directly below Jupiter. One second after these sparks are released, Jupiter will dive down to the ground directly below him, which is the only opportunity to damage him with the Mega Buster, before flying back up and restarting his pattern. Every one of his attacks can be avoided by just being on the opposite side of the screen from him.

Jupiter's arena has an icy floor, which is not present in the rematches.

Weaknesses[]

Jupiter is weak to Bubble Bomb, which defeats him in 7 hits. The weapon's trajectory makes it very easy to hit him while he is airborne, plus Mega Man will always have this weapon on him when fighting Jupiter; this is due to Venus, the user of Bubble Bomb, being a first wave boss while Jupiter is a second wave boss. However, he is invincible to attacks when he is using the Electric Shock. Jupiter also has secondary weaknesses to Salt Water and Break Dash, which deal 2 damage to him. As with most bosses, Jupiter takes 3 damage from the Mega Arm.

Mega Man Gigamix[]

In the manga Mega Man Gigamix, the Stardroids are powerful space robots that are attacking Earth, destroying several robots in the process, Jupiter defeating Wind Man. Jupiter and Venus later attack Dr. Light's Laboratory, fighting against the robots present in the local. At first they have advantage over Light's robots and Shadow Man, but for Jupiter's surprise, Duo appeared and destroyed Venus without effort, retreating.[1] Jupiter was eventually destroyed in space by a repaired and upgraded Mega Man.

Jupiter has a cameo appearance as one of the robots in the Robot Museum in the manga Rockman & Forte.

Etymology[]

Jupiter is named after the planet Jupiter, which is named after the Roman god of sky and thunder of the same name, fitting his ability to fly and use electric attacks. Also, the eagle is one of Zeus's symbols, so Jupiter's avian design may also be referencing this.
