Infinity Gig (インフィニティーギグ Infinitī Gigu) is an Arm-type rocket punch weapon that Vile obtains by defeating Spark Mandrill and Chill Penguin in Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. When equipped with this weapon, Vile fires a homing fist forward. This weapon has nearly a full screen range and uses a lot of weapon energy. When fired when there is an enemy near, it circles around the enemy, zipping in and out, hitting the enemy multiple times. If there is more than one enemy on the screen it will attack one, and then when that one is destroyed, the fist will go after another one if it still has time left - Infinity Gig stays out for a preset amount of time, unless there are no enemies left, in which case, it comes back early. Vile can move and even use his other weapons while this is going on. This weapon inflicts decent damage, which, coupled with its homing capabilities, makes it very good weapon. Some caution must be taken however, as the fist can sometimes get distracted by going after enemy shots and missiles. It also cannot go through walls and floors, so the player has to sometimes be creative with how they fire it so that the fist can get around the walls and the like and reach their target - it goes after the enemy or object nearest to Vile first, in the direction he is facing when he fires it, so the player must keep this in mind when aiming it.

Infinity Gig is Spark Mandrill, Armored Armadillo and Bosspider's weakness.

Etymology[]

  • Infinity Gig refers to how the homing tech sometimes performs figure-eights (like the infinity symbol ∞) as it circles back to hit targets multiple times. A "gig" is also a kind of harpoon used in fishing.
