The Hunter Base (ハンターベース Hantā Bēsu) is the headquarters of the Maverick Hunters organization, founded by Dr. Cain to counter the rising Maverick revolts.
History[]
Mega Man X / Maverick Hunter X[]
Hunter Base is never seen in the original Mega Man X, but does appear in its remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. This Hunter Base is located in Abel City. It is never actually seen in-game, but X is in contact with a Navigator stationed there. There are also scenes in The Day of Σ which take place in Hunter Base's briefing room and a virtual reality training room.
Mega Man X2[]
Hunter Base appears briefly during X's conversations with Dr. Cain in Mega Man X2. It is where the two meet several times throughout the game to discuss the movements of the X-Hunters and the reconstruction of Zero. If the player fails to gather all of Zero's parts before defeating the eight bosses, the X-Hunters will invade the Hunter Base to steal Zero's control chip and any parts obtained by X to revive him.
The Hunter Base also appears as a large gray building in the Stage Select Screen that is damaged after three bosses are defeated. During development, the building had a "I.H." (Irregular Hunter) on it.[1]
Mega Man X3[]
In Mega Man X3, Hunter Base is directly assaulted by Dr. Doppler's army and serves as the game's Opening Stage. The attack occurs after X and Zero had already been dispatched to help quell the Maverick riots in Dopple Town, forcing them to make a hasty return. They arrive in the midst of the siege and split up to cover more ground. However, X is captured by the traitorous Hunter Mac, and Zero must save him himself. X then continues and fights Maoh the Giant atop the building.
After X and Zero later defeat the eight Mavericks in Dopple Town, they return to Hunter Base, where Dr. Cain tells them he has deciphered the location of Dr. Doppler's Laboratory. Hunter Base is also revisited in the cutscene that plays if Zero is taken out of commission by the battle with Mosquitus.

Mega Man X4[]
In Mega Man X4, Hunter Base appears as part of the Stage Select Screen. It is also where briefings before important missions such as the final stage occur. In X's story, Double can be seen in the background, and in Zero's story, Iris is in the background, although both of them disappear after completing the Space Port stage.
Mega Man X5[]
Hunter Base again serves as the Stage Select Screen in Mega Man X5, where various Maverick Hunter operators can be seen in the background. Additionally, it is where the Enigma cannon and the Space Shuttle are stored for use in the Colony Incident. By extension, it is the location where Dynamo challenges the Hunters to duels, fighting them on the outdoor premises.

Mega Man X6[]
Hunter Base is the Stage Select Screen again in Mega Man X6. Besides this, it serves little role in the game.
Mega Man X7[]
Mega Man X7 features Hunter Base in a variety of cutscenes. It is where Zero takes Axl after arresting him in the Opening Stage, and where Red contacts the Hunters to challenge them to the worldwide duel against Red Alert. It is also seen when X decides to come out of retirement and return to the fight for peace, and in the final cutscene where Axl is still trying to get X's approval.
Mega Man X8[]
Hunter Base is given more functionality in Mega Man X8, where its R&D Lab can be accessed to process Rare Metals and craft new weaponry and abilities. It also returns as the Stage Select Screen, and its interior is seen during the cutscene where Sigma officially reveals himself to the Hunters.
Mega Man Xtreme[]
In Mega Man Xtreme, Hunter Base's Mother Computer is hacked by Mavericks and all of its data is overwritten, and the resulting fake data has sent the whole world spiraling into chaos. Because of this, X and Zero's data is transmitted into the Mother Computer to fight the resurrected Maverick data and restore order to its systems.
Mega Man X: Command Mission[]
In Mega Man X: Command Mission, Giga City's Central Tower is used as a makeshift Hunter Base in the battle against the Rebellion Army. It serves as a location to restore LE, access the Sky Room and Deployment Center, and teleport to the next mission areas. It is also close to Air City, which can be reached via the Air Bus for quick access to the marketplace.
Additionally, X's party travels to the Far East HQ, another Maverick Hunter base, to confront Colonel Redips after he publicly labels them as Mavericks.
Mega Man X DiVE[]
In Mega Man X DiVE, the Hunter Base stage from Mega Man X3 appeared as an Event stage for the "X-Hunters" event. It ends in a boss battle with χ -kai-.
