"My Gemini Laser has no match! I thought you were my rival. Is that all you got?"
―Gemini Man taunts Mega Man when he bests him, Super Adventure Rockman

Gemini Man (ジェミニマン Jeminiman) is a Robot Master from Mega Man 3, created by Dr. Light and Dr. Wily. He is capable of creating holographic copies of himself, and uses that power to confuse and overwhelm opponents as he attacks them. He only uses one copy in most of his appearances, but in Super Adventure Rockman, Gemini Man is shown to be able to produce up to four copies of himself at once to confuse his opponent. However, even without his clones helping him, Gemini Man is a very tricky opponent to deal with, especially with his Special Weapon, the fast and reflective Gemini Laser.

Appearance[]

X8NavigatorAlertIconEdit This section requires expansion.

Gemini Man is a humanoid robot. He has a black body, green eyes, a light blue helmet with four-pointed decorative on the top front, a mirroring decorative on his front torso, a white hand on his left arm, a white arm cannon on his right arm, yellow lining between his torso and legs, and light blue feet.

Personality[]

Gemini Man is an elegant fighter who is confident in his abilities, but is rather conceited. He is a narcissist, and likes to admire himself in a mirror or with one of his copies. Gemini Man also has Ophidiophobia, which is a fear of snakes, one of the reasons why being that his weakness is the Search Snake.

Attack Pattern[]

Gemini Man starts the fight by immediately creating a duplicate, which hops all the way to the left corner. He and his clone then go in a continuous cycle of running from left to right, and then jumping back to the left side, always being opposite of each other. Both of them take damage and share the boss HP. If the player shoots, both Gemini Men will temporarily pause and the one on the ground fires a straight buster shot in the player’s direction. Once Gemini Man reaches half-health, the clone disappears. On his own, Gemini Man slows down in speed and simply runs back and forth, doing a shorter jump forward if the player shoots. After a few seconds, he will fire a Gemini Laser in the player’s direction, where it will diagonally bounce off the wall 4 times before disappearing. The Gemini Laser also lags the game and makes it easier to manage what to dodge.

In the NES version, it is possible to time your shots in a way that you can hit one of the clones without triggering them to fire a shot, though this can only be done right as one of them is about to jump and can only be done with that specific clone jumping.

In The Wily Wars, Gemini Man's 2 movements have been rounded out to be closer in range to each other, making the clones slower and his own speed later faster. His normal shots also have slowed down, and are easier to dodge.

Weaknesses[]

Gemini Man's main weakness is Search Snake, which can easily hit him as he does a lot of running on the ground. The weapon will kill him in 6 hits and disable the clone in 3. He also has a lot of secondary weaknesses that do 2 damage: Magnet Missile, Hard Knuckle, Top Spin, and Shadow Blade (this one being the most useful due to its high ammo).

As with all other Robot Masters in Mega Man 3, he is weak to his own weapon and dies in 7 hits to it, though it can only be used in the rematches. Gemini Laser has practical use here since it's essentially a replacement to your buster.

Mega Man III[]

Gemini Man is part of the first wave of 4 Robot Masters, which all come from Mega Man 3.

Attack Pattern[]

Gemini Man's difficulty has been shifted among his attack patterns. His running speed has been balanced so both phases share the same speed, meaning him and his clone are slower while Gemini Man by himself is faster. This makes it easier to dodge the clones and get in chances to time your shots, while Gemini Man by himself is more aggressive and will always shoot out Gemini Lasers when he gets the chance. The Gemini Laser is also faster as it does not lag the game anymore. You can no longer cheese the clones by timing your shots so they never retaliate, but at the same time, the Gemini Laser (and Gemini Man's back and forth movement) can now easily be dodging by doing a straight jump when right next to a wall, should they approach you.

Weaknesses[]

Gemini Man's main weakness is once again Search Snake, though the snakes now deal 3 damage. Gemini Man also retains a secondary weakness to Shadow Blade, which does 2 damage.

As with most other bosses, Gemini Man takes 3 damage from a fully-charged buster shot. A good strategy going into the fight to release a full-charged buster without pressing the button right away, allowing the projectile to hit Gemini Man for free before the battle starts.

Gemini Man also has a secondary weakness to Dust Crusher and takes 2 damage from it, but as there are no rematches, this can only be discovered with a cheat device.

Mega Man's Soccer[]

Gemini Man is a fast player that doesn't have his own team. In Tournament mode, he is a member of the Fire Man, Wood Man, Needle Man, Dust Man, Skull Man, Enker, and Wily teams. In League mode, he is in the teams of Elec Man, Wood Man, and Pharaoh Man.

Mega Man: The Power Battle/Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters[]

"Attack calmly and avoid the illusions. To tell you the truth, Gemini Man is weak against heat."
―Dr. Light, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters

Gemini Man is one of the six bosses from the "Mega Man 3~6" course in Mega Man: The Power Battle and the "Recover the new parts!" course in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. Like Mega Man 3, Gemini Man will start the battle by creating a clone of himself. The first pattern is almost identical to his first pattern in Mega Man 3. They take turns jumping to the left, running to the right, and repeating this.

After Gemini Man reaches half health, the clone will disappear. Gemini Man will then slowly walk around the arena. He will occasionally attack by firing a shot or using his Gemini Laser. He will also jump around and use a shield to defend against attacks. Besides this, in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters he'll also be able to create dimensional rifts to summon Tsuranattoris to his aid. This is known when his forehead refracts light, similar to his entrance animation. He is weak to Magnet Missile in Mega Man: The Power Battle and Pharaoh Wave in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters.

Super Adventure Rockman[]

Gemini Man is the last opponent encountered in Episode 2, fought by Mega Man just before he tries to enter the Temple of the Moon. During his introduction cutscene, he demonstrates his cloning powers to a confused Mega Man and Beat from the steps of the temple, simultaneously attacking them with many Gemini Lasers. Mega Man is eventually able to decipher which one is the real one, allowing the two to battle, with Mega Man coming out victorious.

If the player loses to Gemini Man, however, he will finish off Mega Man with one final shot from his Gemini Laser, and laughs triumphantly upon doing so- making him one of the few Robot Masters who the player cannot continue against if they lose, another being Shadow Man.

After the battle, Gemini Man is critically damaged, and tells Mega Man that if what he said about Doctor Wily's plan is true, then Wily himself is in danger as well and must be saved. He warns Mega Man that the door at the top of the temple is booby-trapped, and explains that the door in the middle of the temple is the real entrance, just before collapsing. He is later revived by Wily and Ra Moon, but is disabled again after Ra Moon's betrayal.

Translation:

  • Power Battle: He uses a holographic device to attack as if he has several alter egos. He is calm, but has a tendency to be flamboyant. His special weapon is Gemini Laser.
  • Power Fighters: Gemini Man, who also appeared in PB, first appeared in Rockman 3. His special weapon, the Gemini Laser, was originally a laser that accelerated a reaction element that I discovered. Because Gemini Laser reacts to the thoughts of the opponent, it has the ability to reflect when it hits non-thinking objects.

Trivia[]

  • Gemini Man was the first Mega Man boss to be named after something astrological, in this case a constellation.
    • This may also be the reason why the initial part of his stage resembles an alien world.
  • Gemini Man and Hard Man are the only two Robot Masters from Mega Man 3 whose stages require Rush to be completed (prior to Doc Robot and Dr. Wily stages).
  • Gemini Man and Hard Man are also the game's only two Robot Masters to not have a Mega Man Battle Network NetNavi counterpart.
  • In Gemini Man's NES mugshot, his eyes are red, whereas his official artwork depicts him with green eyes.
  • Gemini Man, along with Freeze Man, Crash Man, and Skull Man, does not attack the player when the player does nothing upon entering the boss room. The battle will start when the player either shoots or jumps.
  • Gemini Man's name is a reference to the Zodiac sign the Gemini, the twins.
  • There is a boss in Rockman Strategy named Gemini, but the two robots are unrelated.
  • Gemini Man's stage had Saturns in the background at some point in Mega Man 3's development; they were ultimately replaced with stars.[1]
