Recycle Lab (リサイクル研究所 Risaikuru Kenkyūjo) is Metal Shark Player's stage in Mega Man X6. It is a recycling plant and research lab.

Description[]

X6 RecycleLab preview

Almost the entire stage has a Nightmare Press garbage compactor on the ceiling that periodically descends, proving instantly fatal. However, it can be avoided by ducking into gaps in the floor along the way. Using a Ride Armor will also stop the compressor from crushing the player (even if the player is not in the Ride Armor, meaning it can be discarded to prop the compactor up).

At the end of the second Nightmare Press hall, one can either continue left to reach a Shadow Armor part capsule and an Another Route, or descend a ladder to enter a blue portal - while it resembles an Another Route portal, it is actually mandatory. This leads to the stage's second area, which has another Nightmare Press but with an added conveyor belt and later the sub-boss Nightmare Pressure. At the end of this area, one can continue to face Metal Shark Player.

The Nightmare Phenomena that may affect this stage are Nightmare Cube and Nightmare Freeze. The phenomenon that this stage activates in others is Nightmare Iron.

In the Another Route, the Nightmare Press and conveyor belt are active, and the screen also auto-scrolls.

The capsule and an Another Route portal wait across the gap.

Trivia[]

  • Recycle Lab is the only stage in Mega Man X6 with a blue portal that does not lead to the Another Route, but which must be entered in order to progress through the stage normally.
  • The Stage Select Screen indicates that the Recycle Lab is located around western Indonesia. However, as the map contains errors, it's unknown if this is its actual location.
