Tako Trash (タコトラッシュ Tako Torasshu) is the boss of the second Wily Stage of Mega Man 4. It was originally a garbage processing robot.

Mega Man 4[]

Attack pattern[]

Tako Trash is positioned on a higher up ledge, impossible to reach the weak point from standing on the lower level. Said weak point is the green gem on its forehead, which has a smaller hitbox than it looks. To get there, the player has to ride the two green platforms in front of the boss. These platforms slowly move along rails that are shaped like paper clips. Tako Trash has 2 attacks that it can use randomly, with no limit. The first is to spit out a fireball out of its mouth, and this fireball simply travel straight forward. The second attack is to launch an orange ball from the chute on its head. This orange ball is lobbed in an arc at Mega Man's position, and explodes upon hitting the ground (though the explosion does no damage).

Weaknesses[]

Tako Trash's main weakness is Ring Boomerang, which does 4 damage and can very cleanly hit the green gem without worry of dinging off the body by accident. As with most bosses, Tako Trash takes 3 damage from a fully-charged buster shot.

While Drill Bomb is not a weakness, hitting Tako Trash's lower body a couple times will actually disable its contact hitbox, allowing Mega Man to touch the boss without taking damage. This may be because the body appears to have invisible destructible blocks that also had the hitbox attached to them. This glitch can be used to hide behind Tako Trash and shoot the green gem; as none of its attacks can reach behind it, pulling off the glitch correctly guarantees victory.

Damage data chart[]

Mega Man 4
Mega Buster Flash Stopper Rain Flush Drill Bomb Pharaoh Shot Ring Boomerang Dust Crusher Dive Missile Skull Barrier Wire Adaptor
1:3 0 1 1:1 0:0 4 1 0 0/1* 1

*For the Mega Buster and Pharaoh Shot, the first digit is when the weapon is fired normally and the second is when it is fully charged.

*For Tako Trash, Skull Barrier does not inflict any damage against it under normal circumstances, but a glitch can occur when a Drill Bomb hits it first, then following up with Skull Barrier, inflicting 1 unit of damage against it thereafter.

Trivia[]

  • "Tako" means octopus in Japanese.
  • Tako Trash resembles a souped-up boss version of the Gachappon enemy, mirroring the enemy's attacks. Interestingly, there are 2 Gachappons in the final room just before the Tako Trash's boss gate.
  • Tako Trash is one of five bosses immune to Pharaoh Shot.  The other four are Skull Man, the Square Machine, the Cossack Catcher, and the second form of the Wily Machine.
