Metal Man Stage (メタルマンステージ) is a stage in Mega Man 2 and Mega Man II that has Metal Man as the boss.

Mega Man 2[]

Metal Man's Stage takes place inside an industrial facility and is one of the first stages in the series to have an animated background in the form of all the red gears and contraptions. Conveyor belts are also introduced for the first time in the series and are unique to this stage: players who stand on it will be moved left or right, based on which direction the belt is going. The stage also has another gimmick that is featured only in the beginning: Presses. These 5 spiked traps hang high in the ceiling and wait for Mega Man to get close before slamming down, capable of killing Mega Man in 4 hits. Once they fall, they will slowly pull themselves back up. They can't be destroyed, but can be frozen using Time Stopper. Their chains can also be jumped through only if the Press is reeling upwards.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • ETank1 E-Tank: This one is in plain sight right at the beginning, with no special criteria needed to grab it. Serves as a freebie to those who don't know what E-Tanks do, as this is the first game to introduce E-Tanks.
  • 1UP10A 1-UP: After the Mole section and a bunch of platforming, this pickup is on a higher-up platform that your jump cannot reach. Use Item-1 or Item-2 to reach the platform.
  • ETank1 E-Tank: This pickup is right under the last Blocky, and can be accessed by simply holding left to fall into the side area. However, the gap that has to be crossed to get back on the main path from this area is impossible (sans pausing constantly to reset falling speed). Item-1 and Item-2 are needed to cross the gap and claim the E-Tank without having to lose a life.

Mega Man II[]

Metal Man's Stage in the GB demake still takes place inside the industrial facility, though due to limitations, the gears in the background are not animated. Conveyor belts return and are unique to the stage, functioning the same way as before. Unlike its NES counterpart, this stage has spikes, with a spike drop shortly after the first room, so be ready to turn at an instant. Presses are also here, with 5 of them being in the low horizontal room that players drop down into. They function the same but one particular Press is well-hidden inside the ceiling. Beating the stage will additionally reward the player with Rush Marine.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • GB1UP 1-UP: Right after the Neo Metall rooms, but it is way out of reach. The player has to use Rush Coil/Jet to access it.

In the Archie Comics Mega Man series.

Metal Man's stage appeared in issue 11 from the Archie Comics Mega Man series. After Air Man's defeat, Mega Man teleports to an industrial processing plant adjacent to a gem mine to investigate a report from agents Krantz and Stern, finding Metal Man inside.

In the manga Rockman: Dr. Wily no Inbou, Metal Man's base was the first found by Rockman. The area was still being remodelled into a base by Metal Man and his minions when it was found, but to Rockman's annoyance, the construction was advanced enough to have some traps (Press) installed.

In the Mega Man 2 novel from the Worlds of Power series, Metal Man's world is full of overwhelmingly noisy machines.
