Sigma is the final boss from Mega Man X. He is fought immediately after X defeats Velguarder in Sigma Stage 4.

Strategy[]

Sigma[]

Sigma is quite fast and powerful on the ground, and can block X's attacks if he is standing still. He is also able to scale the walls with his Triangle Kick; however, he cannot do anything else while doing so, which can be used against him to land hits while he is moving from wall to wall. His weakness is Electric Spark.

Wolf Sigma[]

Wolf Sigma takes up the entire room, but his most important parts are his head and his floating hands. The hands can be stood upon as platforms to aim at his head for damage, but they move around and can fire electricity. The center of the arena is targeted by his flamethrower and lightning balls, so it's dangerous for Players to stay on the floor. He only takes damage from a fully-charged Charge Shot or a Rolling Shield. Wolf Sigma is the only boss in Mega Man X that is immune to the Hadoken.

Other appearances[]

  • Sigma's first form appeared as the secret boss from World 2 and EX World 2 in Rockman Xover. His Wolf Sigma form also appeared as a Battle Memory.
  • Wolf Sigma appeared in cards from TEPPEN.
  • Sigma and Wolf Sigma are the final bosses from Minecraft's Mega Man X DLC.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X[]

Sigma's strategy in the remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is relatively unchanged. In Hard Mode, he gains a new diving saber attack. Wolf Sigma also has new attacks, one of which replaces his "Consecutive Bullets" attack, such as releasing a "V" shaped shock and raining down energy lasers, and is no longer immune to the Hadoken. His boss battle is exclusive to X, as Vile Mode ends just before Sigma Palace 4.

Mega Man Xtreme[]

Sigma reappears as the final boss in Mega Man Xtreme, being similar to his original appearance. Each form now has an additional weakness, and there is an interval between the two forms, as the first form is fought inside a computer, while the second is in Sigma's hideout in the real world. Wolf Sigma has new attacks that are only used in the Hard and Extreme Modes.

Strategy[]

Sigma[]
  • Triangle Kick (三角蹴り) - Sigma leaps from wall to wall in a triangular motion.
  • Saber (サーベル) - Sigma rushes forwards and slashes once with his beam saber.
  • Machine Gun (マシンガン) - Sigma fires several quick projectiles from his forehead.

  • Punch (パンチ) - Wolf Sigma attempts to punch the player.
  • Electric Shock (電撃) - Wolf Sigma releases lightning out of the top or bottom of the hands.
  • Electric Shock Bullet Rapid Fire (電撃弾連射) - Wolf Sigma shoots a stream of nine energy balls from the mouth.
  • Flamethrower 1 (火炎放射1) - Wolf Sigma shoots a flamethrower from the mouth.
  • Electric Shock Bullet (電撃弾) - Wolf Sigma releases an energy ball that moves through the floor and walls. Only used on Hard and Extreme Modes.
  • Flamethrower 2 (火炎放射2) - Wolf Sigma shoots a flame that stays on the ground for a while. Only used on Hard and Extreme Modes.
  • Lightning (稲妻) - Wolf Sigma releases energy spheres that form a lightning above on impact. Only used on Extreme Mode.

Mega Man X DiVE[]

Wolf Sigma was the first Raid Boss in Mega Man X DiVE, where players attempt to cause as much damage as possible before time runs out. His strategy is similar to the original version, except that Wolf Sigma will aim the nine consecutive bullets in the player's direction. He can be damaged by any attack.

A modified Wolf Sigma appeared as the boss from the Monster Hunter Rise collaboration event stage Mission Code: R・I・S・E, where Sigma's game data was mixed with the data from a Magnamalo and became Magnamalo Sigma (怨虎纏うシグマ Onko Matou Siguma, "Grudge Tiger-armored Sigma"). After defeating him, the player obtains materials such as shells, plates, blades and scales that could be used to create the Sinister Shadow Saber during the event.

Sigma's first form also appeared as a boss. He uses the same attacks as in Mega Man X, without his Machine Gun attack. Instead he borrows Neo Sigma's 5 Bullet Shot and Electromagnetic Wave and his X3 form's Fire Bullet.

Trivia[]

  • Onox's true form from The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons has an attack pattern reminiscent of Wolf Sigma's pattern.
    • Coincidentally, both Mega Man X and Oracle of Seasons were developed by Capcom.
  • Sigma/Wolf Sigma is the only boss in Mega Man X to not take three points of damage from his weakness, rather he takes only two points of damage.
  • With two forms, Sigma has both the widest arsenal of moves, and the most health out of any boss in Mega Man X.
