Impregnable Fortress, also known as Yamato Man's Stage, is a Japanese themed stage from Mega Man 6 that has Yamato Man as its boss.

Description[]

before entering the red fortress, Mega Man briefly spawns outside, with a daytime view of Mt. Fuji and several Japanese buildings in the background. In addition to primarily being a combat stage and being home to many unique enemies, this stage is full of split paths, with each half of the stage having two paths. At the start of the stage, going up leads to the normal path, but the alternate path is blocked by a breakable block, and can only be accessed by Power Adaptor. This first alternate path even has an optional mid-boss. After the halfway point, there are two more paths: going down is the normal path, while the upper path can only be accessed by flying up to it with Jet Adaptor. Both paths end with Conveyor Belts, stylized like cogs, though they are only in one room of each. Both of the lower paths go down to street level, and the second lower path has small ponds of water, only serving to have Gabgyos ambush Mega Man. On the flip side, both of the upper paths have windows, some of which have blinds while others show a sunset sky.

This is one of the stages were a Beat Plate can be acquired, and thus the stage's color palette changes upon revisiting.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • 1UP10A 1-UP: Going up the first main path, this pickup rests on a high platform in the air. Only Jet Adaptor can fly up to reach it.
  • ETank1 E-Tank: After defeating Gamarn and Gamadayu, this pickup is in plain sight, but a breakable block protects it. Given Mega Man needs Power Adaptor to access the mid-boss's path, anyway, there should be no issue getting this pickup.
  • MM6PlateE Plate: After the halfway point, there are two paths that have their own boss doors: going down is the normal path and getting to the boss door does not require anything, while the upper path can only be accessed by flying up to it with Jet Adaptor. The boss door of the upper area is the special one and thus rewards the letter upon defeating Yamato Man in this room.

Trivia[]

  • Despite having many enemies unique to this stage, they are all spread out across the different paths of the stage that it is impossible to fight all of them in one run of the stage.
