"I suppose it's asking too much to expect someone so young to understand what we're trying to do. You should respect your elders and listen to us old folk."
—Leganchor, Mega Man ZX

Leganchor the Gelroid (レグアンカー・ザ・ゲルロイド Reguankā za Geruroido) is a Pseudoroid boss from Mega Man ZX. He is the guardian of the underwater city in Area J, and along with Lurerre the Abysroid, was assigned by Serpent to safeguard the Serpent Report.

Characteristics[]

Leganchor's design is based on a giant jellyfish. He has a massive turquoise body with details in purple and white, along with yellow lights. A large robotic skull stands out in the center, although his actual face is two small eyes located above it. His body has four tentacles with anchors on their ends, as well as four large turbines on his upper half. A shard of the Biometal Model L is present inside these turbines.

Leganchor is an arrogant Pseudoroid who lectures his opponents. If he is not listened to, he resorts to beating it into his enemy. He thinks of himself as an elder and claims that "youth is wasted on the young".

History[]

Mega Man ZX[]

Leganchor was made by Serpent from half the data of Biometal Model L, with Lurerre receiving the other half. He leads a Slither Inc. unit that intercepted a data disk with the Serpent Report from a Guardian recon unit that was betrayed and annihilated by Serpent. He attempts to escape Area J with the data disk, but he is caught and defeated by the Mega Man Model ZX who recovers the disk along with his half of Model L.

Leganchor is later revived for the final battle in Slither Inc.'s head office, but he is again defeated. He dies supporting Serpent's ideas of evolution.

Mega Man ZX Advent[]

Main article: Skull Anchor

Although Leganchor himself does not appear, his DNA data was carried over to the Skull Anchor, a water Mechaniloid found in the Arctic Ice Floe. Its skeletal face resembles Leganchor's and it freezes the player on touch just like he can.

Strategy[]

Leganchor confronts either Vent or Aile in a submerged room. His large body takes up the top of the screen almost completely. He attacks with icicle dragons, rippling waves, harpoons and smaller jellyfish. Also, because of Model L's power over ice, touching Leganchor's tentacles will instantly freeze the player. His half of Model L's data is contained in his turbines, therefore striking that area will damage the Biometal as well.

Attack Descripton Notes
Death Stinger Leganchor attempts to spot the player with a light; if successful, he immediately launches his anchors at the player's position. On Normal / Hard Mode, he launches the anchors a second time.
Icy Anchor Leganchor launches his anchors at four determined points: two in the corners and two on the wall, above the corners. The anchors are embued with ice and will freeze the floor as well as the wall, making it impossible to climb. The player will be frozen if hit by the anchors.
Vomited Dragon Leganchor's skull opens its maw and releases two homing ice dragons. On Normal / Hard Mode, the ice dragons have increased HP.
Sea Mixer Leganchor's frontal turbines activate, creating whirlpools which pull in and trap the player. Can be repeatedly escaped by button mashing.
High Wave Leganchor sucks in water through his skull, making his body rise. He abruptly releases the water, slamming himself into the ground and creating large waves across the surface of the water. This move is only performed if the player climbs up high enough to be beyond reach of Leganchor's usual attacks. The force of the slam will stun the player, knocking them off balance.
Little Medusa Leganchor summons miniature jellyfish robots that occupy the surface of the water. They attack by launching orbs of pink energy at the player.

Dialogue[]

  • "Hwahaha! So you're the great Mega Man that keeps trying to interfere with our plans. I suppose it's asking too much to expect someone so young to understand what we're trying to do. You should respect your elders and listen to us old folk." - (Pre-battle, Area J)
  • "Hwahaha! Sometimes ignorance is bliss little one! I am the Model L Pseudoroid, Leganchor. It looks like I'll have to teach you some respect." - (Pre-battle, Area J)
  • "Why... Why do you fight so hard? Why do you risk your life for those fools? Youth is wasted... on the young..." - (Defeat, Area J)
  • "Youth truly is wasted on the young. You still continue to defy Lord Serpent!? You're blind to reality! The world that Lord Serpent is building is the next step in humanity's evolution!" - (Pre-battle, Slither Inc.)
  • "Youth was against you... It takes maturity beyond your years to be a true Mega Man!" - (Victory, Slither Inc.)
  • "If only you could become one with Model W, you too would understand the truth. We must evolve... with a new world..." - (Defeat, Slither Inc.)

Mega Man ZX (manga)[]

Prometheus sent Leganchor and Protectos to attack the Guardian Base while it was docked in Area G and Vent was far away. After defeating Fistleo and Hurricaune, Vent hurries to Guardian HQ and fights against Protectos, and Leganchor starts pulling the Guardian Base underwater to sink it. Vent defeats Protectos and transforms into Model LX, going underwater to cut Leganchor's tentacles and free the Guardian Base. Leganchor fights against Vent and appears to have the upper hand, but Biometal Model F appears and Vent transforms into Model FX, defeating Leganchor with a Megaton Crush.

Etymology[]

  • The name "Leganchor" may be a portmanteau of the words "leg" and "anchor". It may also be based on the word "legacy" due to his elderly personality, or even "league" and "anchor", as league is a way of measuring distance under water.
  • His subtitle, Gelroid, refers to the jellyfish upon which he is based and the word "gelid", meaning cold.

Trivia[]

  • Leganchor's large, aquatic design might be a tribute to Leviathan's Armed Phenomenon.
  • Leganchor's slashed-apart death sprites do not show glowing red innards, unlike the other Pseudoroid death sprites. Instead, his slashed death sprites have him split horizontally at the point where the saber deals the final hit.
