This article is about the NetNavi NumberMan.EXE. For his anime counterpart, see NumberMan.EXE (anime). For his Zoanoroid counterpart, see Zoano NumberMan.EXE.

NumberMan.EXE (ナンバーマン.EXE[1] Nanbāman Eguze) is a NetNavi from the Mega Man Battle Network series operated by Higsby. Both were originally members of the criminal organization known as WWW.

Appearance[]

NumberMan is a robotic NetNavi with yellow eyes. He has a lime green head shaped like a light bulb, slim black neck, a green cylindrical torso with a 3-digit LCD screen on the front, a black lower torso, white cream arm, green hands with three gray fingers and orange linings, cream white legs, orange lining between the legs and lower torso, and green feet.

His Navi mark has blue surrounding and represents a dark green right triangle with a small yellow cube in the right-bottom corner of the triangle shown in a light green background.

History[]

NumberManPETMenuEXE45

NumberMan in the PET.

NumberMan is one of the four playable starter Navis along with Rockman, Roll and GutsMan. His theme does not seem to be based on any remix, so it is original.

Each day, before pluging in, NumberMan will challenge its operator to solve a series of mathematical calculations known as Calculation Drill (計算ドリル Keisan Doriru). He can increase his max HP if the player beats all the daily calculations and if the player solves them in the minigames that can be found in Mystery Data.

He also appears as one of the opponents in the first Everyday Tournament area (Internet2 - ElecStoveComp) and in the Silver Tournament.

Locations[]

  • NumberMan V3 (ナンバーマンV3), 1300 HP:

Anime[]

Main article: NumberMan.EXE (anime)

Much like his video game counterpart, NumberMan serves as the NetNavi of Higsby, with the two of them starting out as minor antagonists before reforming and becoming allies with Lan Hikari, MegaMan, and the rest of their friends.

Abilities[]

NumberMan

NumberMan's Navi mark

  • Die Bomb[3][4][5]/Dice Bomb[6] (サイコロボム Saikoro Bomu):
NumberMan throws a Die Bomb into the player's area. If it is not destroyed after a set time, it explodes, hitting a 3x3 area around it, and inflicting damage to the player depending on the dice roll result multiplied by ten. In BN1, it hits the whole field instead, one column at a time. Also known as Doom Dice in the MegaMan NT Warrior dub.
  • Number Ball (ナンバーボール Nanbā Bōru):
NumberMan sends three balls down all three rows. Each ball displays how much damage it will do and how much damage is required to destroy it.
  • Number Trap (ナンバートラップ Nanbā Torappu):
NumberMan sets a trap on a random panel in the player's area. If it is set off, one of the following will happen:
    • A Time Bomb is set.
    • Area Grab will be used by NumberMan.
    • A 2x2 eraser block will fall on the player. A shadow of it will be seen before it lands.

Mega Man Battle Network[]

  • Time Bomb, known in Japan as
    Count Bomb (カウントボム Kaunto Bomu):
NumberMan summons a Time Bomb. If it is not destroyed in time, it will hit the whole field, one column at a time.

Mega Man Battle Network 4 and Rockman EXE4.5 Real Operation[]

  • Number Ruler (ナンバールーラー Nanbā Rūrā):
NumberMan throws a Set Square onto the player's area. After a while, it will move off, turning at the player in a right angle.

Mega Man Battle Network 5[]

  • Number Check (ナンバーチェック Nanbā Chekku):
NumberMan's Liberation Mission ability. He can claim items and clear traps from Dark Panels without liberating them.
  • Dice Bonus, known in Japan as Dice Plus (サイコロプラス Saikoro Purasu):
NumberMan's BN5DS Support ability. Time to time, NumberMan will roll 2 dice, then those digits will determine how much additional attack power the next chip will gain.

Battle Chips[]

NumberMan has two types of Battle Chips, the NumberMan (ナンバーマン Nanbāman) Navi Chips and the Number Ball (ナンバーボール Nanbā Bōru) Battle Chips.

Trivia[]

  • In early drafts of NumberMan, he was known as CurricularMan (カリキュラマン Karikyuraman).[7]
  • The inspiration for NumberMan's design and color came from bean sprouts, although Ishihara admits he is unsure why the team was convinced that bean sprouts made one smarter;[7] the likely conclusion would be that bean sprouts represent in metaphor power in numbers, as bean sprouts come in bunches unlike other individual yet divisible vegetables.
