Punch is a type of Battle Chip in the Mega Man Battle Network series where the user thrusts a giant fist forward, dealing damage and pushing back anything it hits. Most versions only hit the square in front, but they frequently have command inputs to extend their range or even the number of fists that get launched.
Battle Chips[]
Guts Punch[]
Guts Punch (ガッツパンチ) is a Battle Chip from Mega Man Battle Network 1 to Mega Man Battle Network 4, which imitates GutsMan's signature punch attack. Only in BN3, Guts Punch has a command input to make it a Rocket Guts Punch that flies down the row.
Guts Straight[]
Guts Straight (ガッツストレート) is an upgraded form of Guts Punch introduced in Mega Man Battle Network 3. The fist is launched an additional Square forward, and it also has a command code to launch three of them down the row. In Mega Man Battle Network 4, it is renamed to Guts Punch 2 and loses the command input.
Guts Impact[]
Guts Impact (ガッツインパクト) is the third form of Guts Punch, introduced in Mega Man Battle Network 3. It returns to only hitting one square, but its command code launches five fists down the row, similar to the Program Advance formed using Guts Punch in the prior two games. In Mega Man Battle Network 4, it is renamed to Guts Punch 3 and loses the command input.
Buster Punch[]
Buster Punch (バスターパンチ) is a chip from the first game that changes the Mega Buster into a Guts Punch.
Cold Punch[]
Cold Punch (コールドパンチ), originally named Ice Punch, is an Aqua-element variant of Guts Punch in the first two Mega Man Battle Network games.
Bronze/Silver/Gold Fists[]
Bronze Fist (ブロンズフィスト) is a Battle Chip family from Mega Man Battle Network 2. Its upgraded forms are Silver Fist (シルバーフィスト) and Gold Fist (ゴールドフィスト). They all function identically to Guts Punch, but they have commands to upgrade the attacks. Bronze Fist's command shoots the fist down the row, Silver Fist's launches fists down all three rows, and Gold Fist's launches three fists down all three rows for a total of 9.
Program Advances[]
Big Straight[]
Big Straight (ビッグストレート Biggu Sutorēto) is a Program Advance from the first Mega Man Battle Network game, formed by combining Guts Punch, Ice Punch, and Dash Attack in B code. After freezing time, MegaMan shoots a stream of Guts Punches down the row, dealing 250 damage to everything there while.
Big Straight also appeared as one of MegaMan's skills in Mega Man X DiVE.
Machine Gun Punch[]
Machine Gun Punch (マシンガンパンチ Masingan Panchi), shortened to Punch in the English games, is a Program Advance from Mega Man Battle Network 2 and Mega Man Network Transmission, formed from the same three chips as Big Straight (Guts Punch, Ice Punch, and Dash Attack), in the same B code as well as the G code. In BN2, it also functions similarly and looks identical to Big Straight, shooting five six Punches down the row for 100 damage each.
However, in Network Transmission, it only does three consecutive punches without launching them.
Z-Punch/Straight/Impact[]
Zeta Punch (ゼータパンチ), Zeta Straight (ゼータストレート), and Zeta Impact (ゼータインパクト) are a family of Program Advances from Mega Man Battle Network 3 formed from Guts Punch, Guts Straight, or Guts Impact in three consecutive codes of the alphabet. Z-Punch is available from B, C, D, E, and F; Z-Strght from O, P, Q, R, and S; and Z-Impact from G, H, I, J, and K. Like other Zeta PAs, each one grants 5 seconds of invisibility and unlimited uses of the component chip during this time.
Notably, GutsMan himself can use Z-Punch when his health gets low in his V3 and Omega forms, turning invisible and launching a Rocket Guts Punch every time he moves.
