Appley, known as Apple Sam (アップルサム Appuru Samu) in Japan, is a virus in the Mega Man Battle Network series that resembles a buff worm inside an apple. They only appear in Mega Man Battle Network 5.
Appley bounces around the field and attacks by spitting seeds three panels ahead of them, converting them into Grass panels. While in their apple form, they can only be damaged with Fire-type attacks; otherwise, they are only vulnerable while attacking. Once defeated, Appley will restore some HP to a nearby ally before they're deleted.

Battle Chips[]
The Red Fruit (レッドフルーツ Reddo Furūtsu) series of Battle Chips is obtained from deleted Appley viruses. When used, an apple appears on the field and changes position every second; the first to attack it receives a bonus. Since the enemies can gain the benefits if they hit the apple first, this chip can be risky to use, especially in Navi or Linked battles. These chips are of the Recovery type. Red Fruit 1 recovers 300 HP, Red Fruit 2 gives temporary invincibility, and Red Fruit 3 automatically makes the one that hit it enter in Full Synchro.
