Burai (ブライ) is an antagonist in the Shooting Star Rockman Tribe series.

Profile[]

Burai is likewise solitary in nature like the games, but this incarnation portrays him as having opposite intentions regarding Mu, and as much less inclined to speak than his original appearance (most of his speech happens in his final appearance). Burai did not choose to be a loner but felt inclined to be alone and is actually from Mu of 10,000+ years ago.

Even though he takes human form, unlike the games, he only goes by Burai and not Solo.

History[]

Shooting Star Rockman Tribe[]

Burai's first appearance was in the Densan University, where he interrupted a meeting between Dr. Orihime, Subaru, and Warrock by blasting a hole in the wall. He wasted no time in attacking, blasting Dr. Orihime, though she was saved by Empty catching her. Burai chases Rockman and immediately summoned a sword from within his left arm. Burai quickly and easily dominated Rockman. Burai shows the ability to adjust his frequency to turn intangible, sticking his hand through Rockman's back to grab his face and toss him. During the fight, Warrock notes something strange about him. Dr. Orihime discovers the symbol on the warrior's chest to be the crest of Mu. As Rockman continued to be overwhelmed, her and Empty fired the Jamming Beam, a weapon designed specifically to interfere with Radio Wave lifeforms and humans. It injures Burai, giving Rockman a chance to get in one final shot, forcing Burai to retreat. In the immediate aftermath, Dr. Orihime was able to provide the answer to Subaru's question - the warrior's name.

His initial attempt to take back the Sword of Berserk from Rockman's body thwarted, Burai resorted to watching over the city. In his human form, he sought out Subaru with the intent of again attempting to retrieve the Sword, even actually getting into a (completely one-sided and quickly ended) brawl with a pair of thugs who made the mistake of getting in his way.

He discovered Subaru in the park by a small concert bowl with Misora Hibiki and Cancer Bubble. As he approaches, Burai took out a Star Carrier with the Mu insignia on it before he wave changed into Burai. Warrock realizing that the weird feeling that Burai gave him was the absence of a Radio Wave being, usually needed for a Wave Change. Burai wasted no time in launching an attack on the group. Burai focused solely on attacking Rockman once more, which let Harp Note take an attack on him. Angered by Harp Note's interference, he targeted her, sending Cancer Bubble flying and knock Harp Note out of Wave Change. The angered Rockman tried to attack him with Battle Cards to no use, and only gets himself knocked out. While Warrock was trying to recover, Burai approached the arm and tormented him, holding the sword over his head, intending to split him open to retrieve the OOPArt. The OOPArt inside Warrock begin to react. The Sword of Berserk activated and called forth the power of Thunder Berserk to Rockman. Burai attempted an attack, but Rockman used his newfound powers and sent his own attack back, forcing Burai to retreat. Rogue resumed his watch, cursing the power of Berserk.

Burai struck again when Rockman and Phantom Black were examining ancient pyramids for hints of Mu - Hyde and Phantom largely had the run of the place. The Sword of Berserk had again activated, acting independently of Subaru's control. Burai appeared just as Subaru and Warrock successfully cancelled out of Thunder Berserk. Burai began attacking the people to force Rockman to appear, which worked as it prompted Rockman to take action. Despite their efforts, Burai again quickly dominated them - displaying his new usage of Battle Cards in the process. Subaru was thrashed so thoroughly, he lost consciousness, leaving Warrock to try and evade Burai while dragging Rockman around. This too failed, and Burai again prepared to kill Warrock for the Sword; Meanwhile, Subaru was undergoing the Trial of the Sword - success came at the last possible moment, bestowing Subaru the full power of Thunder Berserk at his command. He then defeats Burai, who was shocked that Subaru had mastered the power of Berserk.

In the depths of an underground cave beneath an ancient Ninja school, where Rockman, Phantom Black, and Yeti Blizzard had all gathered in search of the Ninja OOPart, the final OOPart. Burai met with Rockman and immediately attacked him, but Warrock told Subaru to end it quickly, forcing Subaru to enter in Thunder Berserk form. In the ensuing contest, the presence of all three OOPArts' powers, summoned forth a horde of Radio Wave Virus and partially opened the gate of Mu itself, unleashing wave after wave of energy. In the ensuing confusion, Phantom Black stole the Ninja OOPArt and Burai, who had approached the gate in an attempt to reseal it by striking the gate with his sword, was instead summoned beyond it, which disappeared after retrieving him.

When Subaru and Harp Note later passed through the gate and entered Mu, they discover Burai in his human form, sleeping within the confines of a strange capsule, recovering from his wounds. When Harp Note accidentally released him from the capsule, Subaru and her grabbed Burai on his exit. The exhausted Burai immediately began to warn them of Le Mu and how he should not be revived. As they continued to discuss the threat, Burai revealed he was the last survivor of Mu, and had sealed himself away with Le Mu in an attempt to prevent its return - a task that had cost the lives of all of his friends. His duty binding him to prevent Le Mu's return, he sought to prevent the activation of the three OOPArts, each of which contained a portion of Le Mu's power. As Dr. Orihime, Empty, Yeti Blizzard, and Phantom Black moved to place the three OOPArts into position, Burai wave changes and went after them, despite how Subaru insisted that he was too injured to keep going.

Burai appeared just after Dr. Orihime began summoning Le Mu, his attempts to stop her confounded by Empty. Their battle, one of the most intense Burai had been witnessed in, took them both to the outer reaches of the Mu continent. The exhausted Burai proved no match for his opponent, and was eventually found with Empty's hand clasped around his throat. Burai was saved inadvertently by Dr. Orihime calling Empty to prevent Rockman from interfering with the resurrection of Le Mu. When Le Mu had awakened and was attempting to tear its way through the gate. Burai appeared using the last vestiges of his strength to hold Le Mu off, instructed Tribe King Rockman to seal the portal using the power of the OOPArts, telling him the stones would know what to do. As Rockman unleashed the Kaiser Delta Breaker, Burai disappeared with Le Mu back through the gate, which likewise vanished. The final fate of the remnants of Mu and Burai are unknown.

Power and Abilities[]

  • Burai Arts - Burai rushes the target and delivers a combo attack. The combo consist of a right hook, then left hook, then right again, and finally a backflip kick, all charged with the energy in Burai right hand.
  • Burai Burst - Burai charges his right fist and slams it to the ground, sending a shockwave.
  • Burai Knuckle - Burai charges, then launches many flaming fists on the opponent. The attack has shown to be difficult to dodge as they are extremely fast. MegaMan could only dodge by either using a Barrier Battle Card, or changing his Radio Wave frequencies.
  • "Radio Wave Distortion" - Burai's only defensive move. Burai's body can shift frequency on minute levels (insufficient to transport him between locations), even in the midst of combat; this allows him the capability to ignore even significant impact-based attacks such as swords or projectiles. He can also use this capability to pass through objects, a capability he often uses by thrusting his hand through an opponent and materializing it just enough to throw the opponent a fair distance. However, to use this move, Burai must stand still. Though he can make slight movements, such as when he uses this to throw opponents.
  • Burai Sword - Burai can pull out a sword from his right hand. The sword is strong enough to easily penetrate Rockman's Barrier Battle Card and easily overpower any of his Sword attacks or Harp Note's Pulse Song.
  • Burai Slash - Using his sword, Burai can perform a Sonic Boom attack.
  • Burai Break - Burai's signature attack. Unlike the games, Burai doesn't slam it to the ground, but use it as a blast from his sword.
  • Battle Cards - Burai has shown to be able to use Battle Cards during his third fight against MegaMan. He does so by bringing his palms close to each other and the Battle Card appears in a small square-like screen. If it's a self-moving Battle Card, like Stealth Laser, then it simply materializes. In the case of the normal Battle Card, Burai inserts his right hand into the screen to transform it into the weapon, like the MadVulcan.
