Dark Hold is a Special Weapon obtainable in Mega Man X5 by defeating Dark Dizzy. It is able to stop time for X and Zero's surroundings, and uses Weapon Energy until it is shut off. Because it is activated as soon as the Special Weapon button is pushed, it cannot be charged. To deactivate the Dark Hold. Simply go to the weapon screen and choose another special weapon.

- Upon activation, X and Zero's surroundings will invert colors.
- While generally in-effective against bosses, The Skiver is affected as per his weakness.
- This weapon is needed to successfully navigate through the latter half of the first Fortress Stage, which contains lethal laser beams reminiscent of Quick Man's stage from Megaman 2. The player may need to use the Weapon Sub-Tank (as well as the weapon energy capsules picked up) if he/she takes too much time.
- When used against the rematch with Dark Dizzy, it will only consume one unit, and the screen will only flash white for a split-second.
- Zero uses this move as his level 3 hyper combo in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.
