Count Zap, known as Count Elec (エレキ伯爵 / エレキはくしゃく Ereki Hakushaku, lit. Electric Count), is a member of the World Three and operator of ElecMan.EXE. In the first Mega Man Battle Network game, he tried to hack in to the city's power plant. He was since sent to jail, and his NetNavi was given to his wife, Ann Zap. Later on, it was revealed he has a brother, Gauss.
His real name is Jack Electricity, known as Jack Elecitel (ジャック・エレキテル Jakku Erekiteru) in Japan. (Jack Zap in the English anime).
Appearance[]
This section requires expansion. |
Count Zap has blonde hair and blonde eyebrow. He wears a moss color jacket, pants and shoes with yellow glowing linings and also yellow glowing buttons on his jacket.
Personality[]
Count Zap is cheerful and hyperactive in the anime, where he is also a fan of rock and roll. Count Zap also has a love for electricity, evidenced by his usage of electrical terms like "shocking" quite often, and also doesn't seem to take his work as seriously as the other members of the WWW. In the games, Count Zap is quite different from the anime, being depicted as creepy and uncaring, doing anything to get what he wants even if it means killing many people. Count Zap also seems to be older in the games. He is an avid player of the guitar and his light bulbs flash constantly.
Game History[]
Mega Man Battle Network/Rockman.EXE Operate Shooting Star[]
Count Zap is present at most of the WWW meetings along with Dr. Wily, Yahoot, Mr. Match, and Ms. Madd. After the incident at the Waterworks, he has a conversation with Ms. Madd concerning the acquisition of the superprograms to which he says that they shouldn't speak of the Life Virus due to it being "top-secret". When Ms. Madd's plot to cause chaos in DenTown fails, Wily goes to Count Zap and puts his faith in him that he will bring down DenTown once and for all. Count Zap then infiltrate's the SciLab dinner party as a guest speaker and uses his Navi ElecMan.EXE to disable the power throughout the building. During this blackout, he orders ElecMan to retrieve and send him the Elec superprogram to which ElecMan succeeds. However as the program is sent, ElecMan is deleted by Lan Hikari and MegaMan.EXE. It is later shown that sometime after the incident, Count Zap delivered the Elec superprogram to Wily.
In a meeting following the incident at the Power Plant, Count Elec is praised by Dr. Wily for retrieving the Elec superprogram. Count Elec then congratulates Wily on finally acquiring all 4 superprograms and requests that ElecMan is repaired as he was deleted by Netto and Rockman. Madoi also requests that ColoredMan is repaired as well since she retrieved the Aqua superprogram. Wily however dismisses both of them saying that they are responsible for letting a civilian Navi defeat them and that they should make repairs themselves. After the meeting, Count Elec and Madoi, angered by Rockman and Netto foiling their plans, decide to plot against them by kidnapping Meiru and her Navi Roll. However when they arrive at Meiru's house they are attacked by a mysterious blue Navi in the real world which leaves Count Elec in shock when questioned by Netto afterward.
Some unknown time after the Elec superprogram is delivered, Count Zap is arrested and incarcerated for his crimes as a WWW member. During this imprisonment he relinquishes ownership of ElecMan to his wife, Ann Zap.
Mega Man Battle Network 2[]
Although he doesn't appear in Mega Man Battle Network 2, he is alluded to and Jack's backstory revealed. Jack came from a poor family and is the brother of Gauss Magnus, but later was taken in by a rich family (the Zap family). Although Gauss only mentioned a person named Jack, an optional QuizKing minigame has a question revealing the full name of Jack, which turns out to be Count Zap.
Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge[]
Count Zap appeared as one of the opponents in the Battle Chip GP along with fellow WWW operators Ms. Madd and Mr. Match.
Mega Man Battle Network 6[]
In the Gregar version of Battle Network 6, Ann Zap says that Count Zap was arrested and is still in jail. Ann also implies that during this time, Jack was also recuperating and giving up his criminal ways.[6] She uses his NetNavi and works hard to restore the Zap family's name.

Trivia[]
- Count Zap is the only WWW member to have his family revealed.
- All of Count Zap's known relatives wield Elec NetNavis with his brother Gauss having MagnetMan.EXE and his wife Ann Zap taking possession of ElecMan.EXE.
- Count Zap’s relation to Gauss was unclear in both Japanese and English Mega Man Battle Network 2, only explicitly stated in Japanese extra material. In the game, Gauss did mention that his brother, Jack, was adopted by a rich family and that he is jealous of him, but it is not made explicit that "Jack" is the same as Count Zap until the QuizKing question [7][8].
- To further this confusion, in Battle Network 6, Ann Zap's real name was not as clarified in the English version as it was in Japanese. Her last name is lacking the "Electricity" name to relate her real name to Zap. The English Official Complete Works couldn't figure out this localization oddity, so their Japanese names are written for the developer commentary.
- In the anime, their relation as brothers were more clear as they both shared screen time together, an occurrence that doesn't happen in the games.
- It's revealed in a dev Q&A that the Count Zap came from a good family and was raised strictly to keep his family's name clean. As a reaction to a life of self-pity, he turned to crime. [9]
- In Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge, it is unknown why Count Zap is participating in the tournament let alone when this tournament takes place as he's supposedly in jail as of Battle Network 6.
