The Classic Mega Man Universe is an all encompassing term referring to the original series of Mega Man games and all other series on the timeline afterwards. This includes all Mega Man games brought to us by Capcom except for the games of the Mega Man Battle Network series and the Mega Man Star Force series. The first game, Mega Man, was introduced in December 1987 on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The games are all titled Mega Man followed by the series name (X, Zero, ZX and Legends) and the number that game is in the series.
