Barrier (バリア Baria?) is a commonly seen Battle Chip from the Mega Man Battle Network series and has appeared in most games. A Barrier absorbs the corresponding damage until a certain limit is reached (whence it simply disappears) (E.g. a 100Barrier will absorb 100 damage.)

In Mega Man Battle Network 3 onward they come mainly in three forms: Barrier, 100Barrier, and 200Barrier.

Mega Man Battle Network 4 however, breaks this rule by introducing a more souped up Barrier version, the Giga Chip BlakBarrier which absorbs damage till a threshold of 150 is reached, vanishes, afterwards regenerates 3.1 Seconds later.

The NaviCust has a 'FirstBarrier' from Battle Network 3 onwards which activates a Barrier at the start of a battle. The Barrier used replicates the effect of a normal "Barrier" Chip.

Absorbs all attacks until a threshold of 150 is reached. The Barrier will then disappear for exactly 3.1 Seconds and then regenerate afterwards.

The regeneration can take place independent of the player's status (e.g. the player can get hit by a Vulcan or other multi-hitting battle chip and the Barrier will regenerate regardless of flinching occurring).

This chip only exists in MegaMan Battle Network 4 Red Sun.
