"And I told you, feeble Earth-robot... You cannot stop me! I will conquer Earth with powers from beyond the stars!"
―Alien, Mega Man (Archie Comics)

Alien (エイリアン Eirian) is the final boss from Mega Man 2.

Mega Man 2[]

Alien is the boss of Wily Stage 6, being the final boss of the game. When the player enters his room, Dr. Wily will jump from his flying saucer and transform into this green alien.

Attack Pattern[]

Battling the player around the stars of space, the Alien has a very simple pattern. He will fly around the room in a slow figure-8, and every second or so, he will fire a shot at the player's position.

Strategy[]

The tricky thing with Alien is that he absorbs almost every weapon into full health for him, making him seemingly invincible. However, his only weakness is to Bubble Lead, which does 2/1 damage. Given this weapon's unreliability against aerial enemies, the player is forced to close the distance as to drop the bubbles on Alien when he dips low, making sure to avoid his shots (and especially not making contact with Alien). Multiple bubbles can be used at once, as fortress bosses in Mega Man 2 do not have I-frames. If the player runs out of Bubble Lead, the fight is unwinnable and they are forced to Game Over.

Aftermath[]

When the Alien defeated, it is revealed that he was just a hologram created by Dr. Wily to trick Mega Man; the space stars were created by a disco ball and the "alien" was a small flying projector. The projector collapses to the ground and the room shuts down. Dr. Wily jumps out of his control pad and gets on his knees, bowing to Mega Man in defeat once again.

Pokeruku 2[]

The Alien appears near the end of the mini game "Tatakae! Rockman" in Pokeroku 2. He warps between the three paths and attacks with either a series of 4 arrow-shaped projectiles that can be destroyed with one shot (each worth 1 point) or an indestructible sphere. When his health is equal or lower than 8, the Alien will stop attacking and warp faster; this makes him a harder target. Defeating the Alien is optional, as he will escape when Mega Man reaches the end of the path, but his defeat will grant the player 20 points and end the mini game. As each Charge Shot causes 10 damage to the Alien, it is recommended to defeat him only with them as he will be defeated with 8 hits instead of 80 normal shots (which is probably impossible due to the limited time) and will not warp due to the low health.

Other media[]

In Archie Comics' Mega Man comic series, Dr. Wily tries to fool Mega Man with the Alien hologram, saying he came from space. Mega Man is confused at first, but he discovers that the Alien is a decoy and destroys the hologram's source, revealing the position of the real Dr. Wily.

The Alien hologram also appears in the manga Rockman: Dr. Wily no Inbou and Rockman wo Tsukutta Otokotachi - Rockman Tanjou Densetsu.

In Mega Man Gigamix, Dr. Wily uses a robotic armor with the same appearance of the Alien.

The Alien appears in Mega Man 2: Worlds of Power.

In Mega Man's Classic Mode route from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the final battle against Mewtwo is a reference to the Alien's boss fight from Mega Man 2.
